  1944 Drafted into the Army.
  1945 Basic training St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida.
  1945 New Guinea is where Ray started his service working on radios for A-20’s. Then he went to an island 2 degrees off the equator on a little strip of coral 1 by 6 miles in size. It was extremely hot but the conditions were tolerable.
